Hear a model
Each vowel and join is modelled in Modern RP, from James’s own recording. A browser voice is available only as a switch, and only where the file is not in yet.

Read the symbol
Respelling is not used. You learn the IPA this course actually teaches, including the smoothed vowels and GOAL /ɒʊ/.

Practise the pair
Minimal pairs give you an immediate yes or no. Practice here means the drill. To practise is what you do with it.

Join the words
The Supplementary Edition adds linking, intrusive R, and the J and W glides, once the separate sounds are steady.
